QL Goliath is - after the Superior Drummer of Toontrack - the second virtual instrument or the second sample collection, which I have given myself for my small home studio. I have therefore searched for a library that contains high-quality sampled instruments for a wide range of applications at a relatively low price and therefore decided to use Goliath after a long search. Instruments: The individual instruments - a total of more than 300 - can be found in a clear 20 different categories, among others 'Acoustic Drumkits', 'Choirbank', 'Electric Basses and Uprights', 'Electric Guitar', 'Orchestra' and 'Synth Bass', 'Synth Pad' and 'Synth Lead'. Player: The player offers besides Delay, Envelopes, ADT a own Faltunghall with impulse responses for different applications (pity: the effects can unfortunately not be used for external sound sources - but is generally also with other manufacturers so). Unfortunately, the player is already a bit 'resource-hungry' - on my computer I was able to use Ableton Live (7.0 to 8.1) so far successfully only one instance together with Ableton Effects and Superior Drummer 2.1 (Calculator: 2.4 GHz quad core, 4 GB RAM, Vista 32-bit, Drumset in Superior needed 600 MB RAM). My other plugins such as 'Superior Drummer' or 'Trash' are much less demanding.
Is not for me however tragic, because I record the output of Goliath simply on an audio track of Ableton - so I can in Goliath then another instrument for the next track. Admittedly, it is also more convenient - but then synonymous with correspondingly more expensive PC equipment or Mac Pro. Conclusion: QL Goliath offers a solid first-time 'bread and butter' instrument, which can be used in a variety of different situations, as well as some more 'exotic' samples from the more specialized libraries of East West such as 'Symphonic Choirs' and 'Stormdrum'.

However, if you can already define a 'main area' for yourself, perhaps you should look at the more specific libraries - a film-soundtrack, for example, will only work with Goliath due to some missing articulations of the instruments. To all others, the Library was warmly recommended. Hopefully, the performance of the engine will be improved in further updates.

The keyboards featured in Goliath really are exceptional. The pianos sound crisp and lush, and the other keyboards are well recorded. Very useful sounds. All melodies are played directly by me on a MIDI keyboard, and are all improvised. Thus, there was no mixing, quantizing or other changes made to the performance heard. Any similar rhythms to other songs are unintentional. The video is for demonstrative purposes only.
If you'd like to see more from this library, you can comment on the video and I can create an additional video showing more from the library. The instruments I chose to feature in this video are among my favorite and most used, and also what I feel best represents the library. For more information on the product, visit this link: 'GOLIATH is the only HIGH QUALITY complete sound set in one package ever created, and includes over 180 instruments! GOLIATH is a massive 40 Gigabyte (not Megabyte) Virtual Instrument that covers all of the basic musical genres, the way a keyboard workstation attempts to, except GOLIATH offers much higher quality instruments and dynamics than any keyboard available today. GOLIATH is an indispensable tool that you will reach for time and time again when nothing else works, it will become your Swiss army knife of composing, plus it's GM compatible! You can expect the usual EASTWEST/QUANTUM LEAP exceptional quality in GOLIATH. Even if you own some of these instruments, you will love this collection.
A good example is the Fender Rhodes. Despite the fact the Rhodes has been sampled many times, GOLIATH includes a unique vintage sounding Rhodes you won't find anywhere else.
GOLIATH includes 15 Gigs of new sounds, a new award-winning 2 Gig Bosendorfer piano recorded in Europe, and 15 Gigs from the award-winning range of EASTWEST/QUANTUM LEAP titles (EW/QL Symphonic Orchestra, EW Steinway B Piano, QL Stormdrum, QL Guitar and Bass, QL 56 Strat, QL Hardcore Bass, QL RA, QL Brass, QL Voices of the Apocalypse), all newly programmed with superior sound quality.'
